The Business team is Richard Engel, Duncan Needham and Helen Carville. We offer a full range of services to businesses, small and large, from sole traders operating out of one room, to advising PLCs with many employees.

Existing clients include a very wide range from individuals starting out as hairdressers to companies that operate international satellite navigation systems. Some of our business clients have been with us over 30 years and we have seen them through expansion from strength to strength. Their loyalty reflects our outstanding service and personal approach. We offer a full range of advice to existing businesses to keep them running smoothly and profitably. We can help with matters such as; corporate administration; partnership agreements; drafting contracts and agreements; shareholders agreements; terms and conditions of business and all forms of employment paperwork. We can advise on all business issues such as; liability of a company and its directors; intellectual property rights; legal obligations of buying and selling goods; licences; insurances and franchising.

Setting up in Business

We pride ourselves in the supportive and cost effective way that we can help you set up your own business; advising you on matters such as whether to start as a Sole Trader, Partnership, Limited Liability Partnership or Private Limited Liability Company, and then draft the necessary documentation. We can offer advice on all the typical problems that a new business can face, and will help you implement a full range of preventative solutions. Prevention is better than a cure, and cheaper than settling a dispute. We will draft the initial paperwork so that you can start to trade effectively. We can introduce you to a bank, accountant or other professions.

Buying or Selling a Business

We regularly deal with the sale and purchase of businesses, whether you are a sole trader or a limited company and whether it is a share or asset sale. We also deal with companies purchasing their own shares or management buy outs or company amalgamations.
