Born and bred in Northamptonshire, Rachel attended the University
of Liverpool, where she obtained a law degree in 1993. After travelling
the world for two years, she returned to take the Legal Practice
Course at The College of Law in York, before completing her training
contract in Nottingham at Freeth Cartwright, one of the best known
litigation firms in the Midlands. She moved back to the area in
1999, working for two well established local firms, Tollers and
Wilson Browne, before joining Max Engel in February 2005.
As a qualified solicitor, Rachel has specialised in litigation
from the outset. She has handled a wide range of cases, many of
significant value and complexity. She now concentrates primarily
on commercial disputes, acting for companies of all shapes and
sizes. She also deals with contentious probate matters, professional
negligence claims, and disputes concerning land.
Rachel is well grounded in all forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution,
and in litigation procedures in the County Courts and the High
Court. She understands the importance of thinking laterally to
try to resolve a dispute, and of focusing on the most cost effective
way of achieving a client’s objective, whether or not that
involves proceeding to Court.
Rachel is married to Christopher – another lawyer –
and divides her time between their homes in Northampton and the
Cotswolds.
