Richard Engel, a graduate of Sheffield University, qualified
in 1970 after Articles (Training Contract) with Max Engel. After
a couple of years learning adversarial skills attending Magistrates
Courts throughout the county he spent a lot of time dealing with
residential conveyancing, which was the mainstay of the Practice
in the 1970s. In the latter half of that decade business law started
to burgeon with the development of photocopiers and quicker communications
by fax. Since then Richard’s time was spent dealing mostly
with business matters but his expertise in conveyancing was put
to good use in what has become his main specialisation, dealing
with commercial property. He has wide experience of commercial
matters enabling him to advise small and medium sized enterprises
on all aspects of business activities.
He is still a believer in the old fashioned concept of the Solicitor
as a “man of affairs” to whom the private or business
client can turn as a first (and usually only) port of call to
resolve issues which would otherwise require three or four people
from specialised teams.
Richard has celebrated over 35 years marriage to Liz and they
have a son and two daughters who live and work in London visiting
Northampton frequently (if the sun is shining and Mum is cooking).
He also has the most beautiful granddaughter in the world!
