Duncan Needham came into the law after leaving school and he
joined the City firm of Markbys, London. After ten years of working
in London he moved to Northampton in 1976 and joined Laurence
Mann in Smeath Mann & Co which at that time worked from premises
in Gold Street, Northampton before moving to the Market Square
and then to Sheep Street, Northampton. When working in London,
most of his time was spent dealing with litigation matters.
The firm of Smeath Mann & Co dealt principally with builders
and developers and during that time Duncan continued in litigation
with a special emphasis on building disputes. He also started
dealing with insolvency matters which as time passed became an
ever increasing part of his work.
Following the death of Laurence Mann, Duncan moved to Buckingham
for a year and returned to Northampton and joined Max Engel in
January 2002 becoming a partner in 2003.
Duncan who is married with three children, lives near Towcester.
